Located between Cap Fréhel and the port of Erquy, the Sables d’Or beach doesn’t take its name by chance. Legend has it that off the small estuary on the islet of Saint Michel, there once lay a treasure that was swallowed up by the waters. The sand is said to be the result of gold ingots transformed by a raging sea. Note: the beach is in the seaside resort of Les Sables-d’or-les-pins, but the real star is her!

2) Tresmeur beach (Trébeurden)

Located off the coast of Trébeurden, a seaside resort on the Pink Granite Coast, Tresmeur beach stretches for almost a kilometer, from the Pointe du Bihit to the Pointe du Castel. Along the seafront, one shop follows another, offering customers an ideal view of the horizon and the island of Milliau.

The Breton island of beauty, Bréhat, is an island with many coves but few beaches. Guerzido beach is virtually the only beach on the island. Alternating between sand and immaculate pink pebbles, this idyllic beach is sure to delight.

4) Gwinzegal beach

Primarily a boat shelter, Gwinzegal beach is one of Brittany’s most original beaches. It’s located on the edge of a rare type of harbor, one of the last in Europe. Surrounded by a large stone at their base, tree trunks planted in the sand with their roots serve as stakes to moor boats. This site, which can be admired from the coastal path located just above the beach, offers a complete change of scenery.

5) Bonaparte beach

Bonaparte beach, a key site for the French Resistance, played a decisive role in the Second World War. Listed as one of France’s most important Resistance sites, the beach was used as an evacuation point by boat to the UK for many British, Canadian and American airmen and agents. Walking on this beach is also walking in the footsteps of history.
